What you should know about Glebe Cafechurch

Acoustic in Sydney, Music Venues in Sydney

Lounges, byo, candles, all ages welcome. Intimate acoustic jazz live music every thursday night, 8-10pm.

We didn't have a bar, which kept the room quiet and worthless it was BO pleasing wine and immense beer. It was a very comfy room with relaxing lounges, soft lamps and candles, an excellent piano, immense acoustics (that musicians love), eclectic programming and access for all ages. We had one of the few legal spaces where you could bring your own drinks and food or order Thai food to be delivered. We bear tea and coffee and wine glasses. If you wanted to play at Colbourne Ave, the superior thing to do was to reach down and talk to one of us. We did this for free, and it was quite a lot of work, so we hope you'll grasp if we don't get back to you very quickly, if it sometimes looked like we were struggling to stay ahead, or if we close down without ever replying to you. Thanks to the plebe Uniting Church for their support over many years. And Jess, one of our favorite regulars, wrote this: They are well known in the music world, and they invite other people who are professional jazz players. A very modest few dollars gets you in to a attractive square room with splendid acoustics. Free coffee tea and you can bring wine, food, etc. This is low cost world class entertainment, but only if you love Jazz no disco, pop or other distractions.

The 433rd and end Colbourne Ave concert was a great celebration of music and community. He went to some beautiful jazz concerts that were acoustic, and more like concerts than he was old to in the Sydney jazz scene. It was so appropriate they decided they had to do it every week! New labor designed especially for this ensemble, their beginning concert. Together they will play a collection of songs they love. Two immense musicians with a long history of playing together and a deep love of improvised music. Final year Ken recorded an album with the Mike Jock Trio Plus, entitled Hear and Know’. The band explores the borders of jazz and classical music. Three horns, piano, bass, and drums, playing creative Sydney jazz. John and Brendan, both steeped in the jazz tradition, great improvisers who have worked together for years, will perform this very scanty duet show. You can hear him around town almost every week in a Fri o, a large ensemble, or a massive band and this week, solo. Two great improvising pianists, both with international careers in improvised experimental new music. For us, they will perform some of their song and dance numbers : Spike is one of Australia's great jazz saxophone players. I can listen to him all day long, and i'm not one for church organs. Judy played some outstanding solo pieces in her own marvelous style, and then invited some guests to play some beautiful lengthy formed and twisting jazz standards. Now he’s recorded his fifth album, and he’s launching it for us. Over the after couple of years we managed to organism a consistent series of concerts, and changed our name to Colbourne Ave. John Maddox and friends The beginning concert for the beginning year where we decided to run a concert every week, and the first in our series of bands led by bass players. At his young age I consider him to be one of the superior Jazz piano players in the country (and definitely the superior Be Bop player). This trio have been playing together for nearly ten years and are about to record their second album for the ABC. Plus a special group performance of We are the World. The Mark Ginsburg Band Mark waited a long time to record this beginning celebrated album. Since forming in 2007, this Sydney based trio has been developing their own approach to jazz improvisation. After some negotiating, we have them in the end couple of weeks before they to exit for Europe.
