As the largest and maximum established union and industry support for creative professionals, we successfully campaign on major issues, battle for our members’ rights at work, workplace health and safety, and protecting wages and conditions. Since joining mead many, many years ago, I’ve been actively involved with the MSW Branch Council and the various screen technician committees and seen all the amazing work that goes on behind the scenes. Being a member of mead means I’m connected to like minded people who care about contributing to a unprejudiced and effective work environment. mead has a lengthy and elated history of improving the occupied lives of ingenious professionals and the industries in which they work. Member representatives are elected to our governing bodies as representatives of sections and branches as healthy as on a national basis to federal offices. Federal Council is made up of the representatives from across the country and across every section of the union who are elected by mead members every two years. She has worked for the ACLU as Education and Campaign adviser, where she worked directly with union leadership in a number of unions to prosper campaign strategies and implement organizational change. The key governing body of mead is the Federal Council elected members representing their colleagues across the country. To ensure our processes are the superior possible, mead is planning to benchmark its processes in the finance section against the International Standards organization. We remain to ensure mead has processes to ensure that union resources are worn in a way that is transparent and accountable. The law has a series of requirements about the rules of unions, to ensure democratic control of unions by members and financial accountability including annual self-reliant audits. We are investing in training for our other senior finance staff to ensure they all have good advanced accounting skills. Continuing relationships are reviewed at least every three or five years to determine if they should be put out to tender. Any decision is based on cost and quality. Our general policy on our providers is to review our major outer service providers every three years unless other events require more frequent review. The salaries of the employed regional directors are set by the CEO through the performance review process. The salary of the CEO is set by the Board.
