We are a community of Christians seeking to serve Jesus in the DarlinghurstKings Cross area. We believe that God has called us to be a people of freedom and a presence of blessing to the incredibly different community in which we live. Everyone who walks into the church building marvels at what an attractive space it is. We face in various places and at diverse times. We unfold up the church for whoever wants to drop in. Take a look below at the range of Community Services that St Johns runs: CAP, our programmed to help people with challenging issues. We operate a programmed called CAP (Community Assistance Partnership programmed) which helps people move from emergency situations to greater sustainability. How can we create spaces and places that are inclusive? On the Urban Walk participants hear from one of the Rough Edges patrons who openly share their stories. We have take people from local businesses, large corporations, churches and other organizations on Urban Walks. Behind meeting at St John’s you will take a walk around Kings Cross with our Urban Exposure team and learn about some of the issues that face the street community of the Cross. Does your work or a company you know encourage charities? Our community lunches are also a immense opportunity for corporate team building through community service. The aged protection home will have capacity for 42 people who have high protection needs. Most existing residential services for homeless people in the Darlinghurst area produce short term shelter or lengthy term accommodation, but without higher levels of care. By busy with other services in the area, HammondCare aims to ensure access and equity for the aged who are homeless, with a focus on people who have meaningful care needs and who might otherwise fall through the cracks’. More families are choosing to live in the Kings Cranky Darlinghurst area. St John’s offers a deposit for families who want to grow together spiritually. And yet this is where God has called us to be His people and minister His love. And we do that in community with one another. St John’s has had a presence in this place since 1849, making it the beginning Christian presence in the area. During much of that time St John’s has sought to bless the local community by offering hospitality and love. St John’s has run Harsh Edges, our community center for street people, for almost three decades.
