The beginning Ben Pleasing Chocolate’ place opened in Sydney’s harbourside eastern suburb of Double Bay in 1982, and became obvious and loved as an exclusive boutique supplier of fine, imported and handmade European chocolates. Andrew was one of the many customers who grew up captivated by the store, so much so that he strove to dedicate his life to making more of the brand he loved and expanding the Ben Pleasing Chocolate’ business to a wider audience. Two years later unable to find a quality Nougat he experimented in his home kitchen for months until he produced what is now known as the famous nougat Lamar a recognized brand although at the time it was sold in very little amounts unbranded exclusively through the Ben stores. Now the nougat known as Nougat Lamar has gone through many changes to increase production in order to keep up with growing consumer demand. Nougat Lamar is now sold nationally and exported to over nine countries around the world.
