The store holds 177 million tonnes of thermal coal, and the mine has an expected life of 17 years. The project is unique in that it has an innit crusher and convener system (ICC) one of the scanty kind in the world. Construction of the mine and associated infrastructure started in 2007, and the beginning shipment of coal was delivered in April 2010. In the 1990s further expansion took capacity to 12 million tonnes per annul, with an ordinary of 10 million tonnes of tall quality thermal coal produced during the next two decades. These terminals receive, assemble and fill Hunter Valley coals for export to customers around the world. Drawing from over 30 mines which yield a diversity of coal types and using sophisticated blending and quality control techniques, pecs is also a world leader in coal handling.
