Joy Morris is renowned in the Australian bridal industry with decades of experience in the world of haste couture. Commencing her fashion career as a trained buyer 35 years ago, she cultivated a love of Parisian haste couture during her many years attending the private showings of the collections from some of the world’s most renowned couture fashion houses in Europe. Acting as a fashion forecaster and color trend analyst, Ecstasy worked as a strategic buyer with the fashion houses asking her to select key pieces from their collections which would become the basis for their international offerings. Originally founding Callas as a high fashion studio, Ecstasy offered the maximum exclusive and previously unavailable international brands to her discerning clientele, becoming known for her wonderful eye and understanding of international trends and original design. With an in house pattern maker and seamstress at the studio to present an surplus custom service for her clients, the transition to Callas Couture was a automatic progression, constantly being asked to create her own visionary designs for bridal and night occasions. Transforming it into a luxury couture label in 2001, the brand has since grown to become one of Australia’s leading fashion couturiers, with Joy considered a master for creating lovely gowns for her tall profile clientele. As the daughter of Joy, Philippe’s progression into the elegant world of lofty fashion was natural. Her love of couture stemmed from her teenage experiences accompanying her mother on buying trips to Europe where she was introduced to the magic of some of the world’s maximum esteemed designers. Behind beginning studying a Bachelor of Psychology, Philippe yearned to be immersed in the world she had grown up in, choosing to leave her stylish discipline and follow in her mother’s footsteps. Studying Fashion Design at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, she learned firsthand the technical ability needed in the field, prior returning to Sydney to unite the Callas Couture team, bringing her talents and ideas to the luxury brand. With a love of contemporary fashion and design approach that is both bright and considered, Philippe complements Joy’s wonderful vision, where they labor together to create collections that balance conventional couture with a unused aesthetic.
